We love lemons
A lot of people love lemons. Some people use them to give a little extra zing to their drink others use it to bring out the taste of their food, like salads or fish. We also love lemon cake, lemon meringue pie and lemon curd and love to make these sweet delicacies regularly. Do you love lemons and use them regularly in the kitchen? Consider freezing a bunch for this reason.
Freezing lemons
Have you ever thought of freezing a bunch of lemons? There are many ways to do it. You can chuck a bunch in the freezer, but you could also be a little more diligent about it. Go on to the next page to read how you can freeze lemons and why you should do it.
Eating lemons
Yikes, those lemons are pretty sour, which is why they aren’t the most common fruit to eat as a snack. But that should change! By freezing the lemon, it will lose some of its sour taste which will make it much more edible. Plus, the yellow fruit is super healthy! Lemons combat bacteria, parasites and worms, contain substances that will help to prevent cancer, regulate your blood pressure and they’re beneficial against stress and depression.
Lemon peel
When lemons are frozen their taste will change a lot and they’ll be a lot ‘easier’ to eat. The acidity will diminish and only slowly recover once the lemon is thawing. The peel of the lemon is actually the most important part of the fruit: the peel contains 5 to 10 times (1) more vitamins than the juice. Do make sure you wash the lemon before putting it in the freezer!
Lemon zest
Freezing lemons has become common practice in many households. Take your washed lemons out of the freezer when they’re completely frozen. Zest the frozen lemon peel and sprinkle it over salads, noodles, soup, breakfast cereals, glasses of water or over your ice cream. The frozen peel tastes much tastier than the thawed peel.
